Flying With Baby

I have heard that it’s easier to travel with a baby while they’re still so little and will probably sleep most of the time but that’s little comfort to first-time parents. I’ve been preparing for tomorrow the only ways I know how: (hyper)planning of every moment from wakeup to arriving at my mom’s house and creating various lists of things to do/things to pack/how to pack it. Mike and I have come up with a plan for how we will divide up the load when going through the security checkpoint, which basically means I carry Maxon and Mike gets to keep track of our laptops, the stroller, and the rest of our bags. I’ve already picked out my nursing-friendly attire. I won’t even bother bringing a book or magazine but will instead bring a variety of plush toys. I’ve come to terms that I will feel frazzled at security checkpoint and will accept the numerous eyerolls we’re likely to get. I’ve been on the other side of that eyeroll so we’ll just call it square.

  1. I can’t wait to hear how it goes. I personally think Maxon will be fine UNLESS his ears hurt. I’ve had that happen to me, and it took everything I had not to cry. But you two are such good, interesting parents that I think people will be very tolerant of your efforts. Besides, Maxon is THE CUTEST baby. There’s no was people could get mad at him.

  2. I couldn’t agree more, Karen. I pray to God that Maxon will not suffer any kind of earaches. M&M, Is there a first aid you know, just in case?
