First Steps

They’re shaky, unpredictable, and almost always ends in a giggle-fest head-first dive. Where is that plastic bubble I ordered?

He took his first steps last Saturday and covered a distance of about 3 inches. I couldn’t get him to repeat the feat on command for Daddy so Mike was hesitant to believe it actually happened. Plus, the entire event took about 1.5 seconds so really, if you blinked, you would miss it. We’ve been practicing every day since then but would only get to about to 2 actual steps you could officially count. Of course, we were VERY excited to tell daycare on Tuesday, and wouldn’t you know it, at the end of the day, he had taken FIVE steps. This only confirms my theory that he has probably been walking for weeks now but they didn’t have the heart to tell us. In any case, we are getting him to walk a little further each time before giving in and completely collapsing forward into our arms and sometimes even veers off to other destinations beyond our arms. We are signing him up for the Turkey Trot 5K.

  1. Exciting AND scary! Just when we got comfortable letting him roam around the house on his own (within our own homemade barriers), now we have to be on high alert for gravity and momentum. We’ve gotten some video but they haven’t come out that great. Soon!!!
